What is the difference between 2D, 3D and 4D ultrasound?"2D ultrasound provides the traditional black and white sonogram image of your unborn baby. 3D ultrasound is an actual three-dimensional photograph of your baby, showing vivid details such as facial features and movements. 4D ultrasound is the live movement of the baby also known as real time.
-
What do I need to do to prepare for my 3d ultrasound session? For a gender ultrasound, drink 24-32 ounces of water 45 minutes to an hour before your appointment time. Keeping yourself hydrated is very important. Drink water daily. Never substitute water for anything else. Drink 24 ounces of water and eat a light meal before your scheduled 3D/4D ultrasound appointment. You may also drink something sweet ahead of time too. Heavy meals will sometimes make the fetus lethargic.
-
When is the best time to get a 3d/4d ultrasound? For Gender Reveal & 2D Ultrasounds: As early as 13 weeks (but we recommend 15 weeks). For 3D/4D & HD Ultrasounds: We recommend as early 26 weeks--Any sooner the baby will look small and not have the greatest facial features. Ultrasounds done later than 36 weeks can be challenging but is possible to do if the fetus is in an optimal position and there's enough amniotic fluid near the fetal head.

-
How long does the ultrasound take?It can take up to 10-30 minutes for the session depending on the package you booked. Keep in mind the baby is in control and will either be in an optimayoul position or not.

Will my pictures look like the pictures on the website?Every baby scans differently, depending on its gestational age, position, amount of fluid, placental location and mother’s body habitus. Because this is a special moment for you and your family, we make every effort to obtain the best possible images of your baby. It's no fault of anyone if your baby chooses not to show his or her face. Sometimes they just want to be left alone and snuggle against the placenta or keep their hands and feet in their face.

How can I prepare my baby for their LifeCast appointment? While there are no specific requirements, a sleeping baby would be ideal. We understand that appointment times can be difficult to plan around, so please don't feel pressured. If your baby is not sleeping, feeding can be a great distraction. If you're comfortable feeding your baby during the appointment, we can cast them while they eat. For older children, bringing a toy or object they enjoy playing with or looking at can be helpful. You're also welcome to bring a partner, family member, or friend to help. We understand that taking care of little ones is often a team effort.
-
My child is really wriggly or having a bad day, is that ok?Yes, a bit of wiggling is just fine as it helps the alginate reach all the creases and crinkles. However, if the wiggling is excessive or prolonged, it may be necessary to retake the mold. We will follow your child's cues, taking breaks and choosing the right moments. It's important to note that some days may not be suitable for casting, and that's okay too. If needed, we can schedule a follow-up session, or work with the casts we have and explore alternative design options.
-
What should we wear for LifeCasting? It's recommended to wear clothing that you don't mind getting a bit messy as casting can be a little messy. Anything that can easily be rolled up or taken off is great. The moulding material used during the casting process can stick to some fabrics and can be tricky to get off. So, it's best to avoid wearing any clothing that you wouldn't want to get messy or damaged during the process.
-
What kind of materials do you use during the LifeCasting process and is it safe for delicate skin?We use a seaweed-based material called alginate, which is hypoallergenic and safe to use even on the most delicate skin. It's commonly used in dentistry for taking teeth impressions and is even safe to use in the mouth. We also use lukewarm tap water during the casting process. We'll be happy to address your concerns and ensure that you feel comfortable during the entire process.
-
When will my LifeCast be ready for collection? The casting process typically takes two weeks to complete from the day of your casting. Normally, castings take around 4-5 weeks to dry, but we use a special casting drying method that allows us to reduce the drying time by half. This allows us to complete your casting faster than the usual turnaround time.
